What are the benefits of having a website?
This is highly dependent on the business you're in. Each organisation has it's own goals for it's website. Generally businesses I work with use their website for the reasons below.
Allowing existing and potential clients to find more information about your business
By publishing an informative site, organisations create a high-impact and cost effective means of communicating.
This is useful when:
- informing new and potential clients of your services
- communicating with suppliers and manufacturers
- advertising and promoting specials or special events
- you wish to communicate store locations and opening hours
Branding your business
Interactive and dynamic websites are a lot more memorable than other forms of advertising.
Building a web site in your company colours, with lots of great information, and movement or interactivity, creates an image that simply can't be matched with other forms of advertising.
Selling products online
In addition to providing information on your products and services, you can sell them directly.
This "get them while they're hot" approach compliments your existing offline sales staff. Online stores sell products for businesses 24/7/365, and your orders are simply sent to your email address.
Reducing advertising costs
Once you have a website, you have it for life. Having a website online is only the price of your domain name and hosting. For a .com domain name this is as little as $180 per year.
$180 would not even pay for a set of business cards, let alone an advertisment in a newspaper or on radio. That $180 has your message to the world available only a click away at any time.
